The employee was a school assistant, Superintendent John Niesz said. Their identity is being withheld "due to the ongoing nature of the criminal investigation," Niesz said.
Niesz said police and the school's security team did an excellent job handling the incident.
"The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority," Niesz said.
School counselors are available to support any students who may need assistance processing this information, Niesz said.
